What is Epoxy Resin?
Epoxy resin being used in and around the home has been big in the states for years. Over the last year or so it has started to take of in the UK - but what exactly is it?
Epoxy refers to any of the basic components or cured end products of epoxy resins.
Epoxy resins are reacted with either themselves through a wide range of co-reactants including polyfunctional amines, acids (and acid anhydrides), phenols, alcohols and thiols (usually called mercaptans). These co-reactants are often referred to as hardeners or curatives, and the cross-linking reaction is commonly referred to as curing.
Reaction of polyepoxides with themselves or with polyfunctional hardeners forms a thermosetting polymer, often with favorable mechanical properties and high thermal and chemical resistance. Epoxy has a wide range of applications, including metal coatings, use in electronics/electrical components/LEDs, high tension electrical insulators, paint brush manufacturing, fiber-reinforced plastic materials, and adhesives for structural and other purposes.
Our Premium FX Poxy has been carefully formulated over the last 10 years. It is a 100% solids and Zero VOC formulated epoxy that is applied at 100 mils or thicker, and is both heat resistant to 500F (260C) and UV resistant.
Made in the USA, this epoxy is unlike any other epoxy on the market today. Most other epoxies are only 5 mils thick and prone to peeling and fading. Our product will last a lifetime without peeling, breaking, scratching or fading.
